PROGRAM DIRECTOR

JOB SUMMARY
Live Oak Adult Day Services provides a quality day program to enhance the lives of frail, dependent seniors and to provide respite for their caregivers. To this end, the Program Director plans, provides and evaluates activities based upon the needs, abilities and interests of the clients of Live Oak and consistent with the goals and policies of this agency.

The position hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm. This is a full-time salaried position which includes paid vacation and sick time, along with optional medical and dental benefits. Salary range is $46,000 to $55,000 dependent on education level and previous experience.

  • Assume responsibilities for the oversight of the program and program staff. Under the Executive Director’s guidance, become familiar with and adhere to all Community Care licensing requirements as they relate to client care and supervision in adult day care and assure that Live Oak’s program is consistent with these requirements; including mandate to report abuse and special incidents;
  • Become familiar with and incorporate into the Live Oak program, wherever practical, the Standards and Guidelines for Adult Day Care as published by the National Council On Aging;
  • Supervise program staff and provide their annual job performance evaluations.
  • Assist and advise the Executive Director with regard to the hiring, scheduling and evaluation of the program staff.
  • Perform in-home and/or onsite evaluative assessments of prospective clients and do appropriate follow-up for enrollment.
  • Manage the day-to-day operational requirements of the Center including: monitoring of the meal service, maintaining food program supplies, supervision of the facility, oversight of the janitorial needs and supplies. Oversee the security and operation of the physical plant of the Center.
  • Develop and maintain necessary record keeping systems with regard to client demographics, attendance, medications, diet restrictions, state of health, care plans, etc.
  • Recruit, conduct orientation and training of program volunteers and assist in the planning for recognition of their work for this agency.
  • Plan and arrange monthly in-service trainings for program staff on relevant and required topics. Plan and conduct periodic fire and earthquake drills.
  • Acquire, label, and replenish food, medications and basic supplies adequate for an emergency situation of three days duration.
  • Become familiar with related services available in the surrounding communities so that appropriate referrals may be provided to the families and clients of Live Oak.
  • Represent the agency to the public in a professional manner at all times.
  • Conduct outreach in the community to promote the concept of adult day care and the services of this agency. These responsibilities may include: speaking engagements, presentations, leading tours of the site, participation in Health Fairs, submission of written information or announcements to the local media and developing contacts and working relationships with other service providers to benefit the clients of Live Oak.
  • Be willing and able to represent Live Oak at occasional meetings or hearings related to funding for the agency if requested to do so.
  • Be willing and available to attend staff meetings, program directors’ meetings and meetings with the Executive Director on a regular schedule.
  • Work closely with and advise the Executive Director regarding program needs, problems, and successes, and work within the guidelines set forth in the Personnel Policies of Live Oak.
  • BA or BS degree related to agency program (i.e. Gerontology, Social Services, Psychology, Human Development, Health Sciences, etc.).
  • Experience and knowledge that provides requisite skills to work with frail elderly persons and their families in a professional capacity and to manage the operations aspects at a Center.
  • Experience and ability to plan, implement, conduct and evaluate appropriate program activities, Ability to evaluate staff, motivate and manage co-workers, and accept supervision from and work closely with the Executive Director in order to facilitate a smoothly functioning organization.

(4) Obtain negative TB test results, either less than one year before or seven days after employment date.

ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTOR

JOB SUMMARY

To this end, the Assistant Program Director works with Program Director to plan, provide and evaluate activities based upon the needs, abilities and interests of the clients of Live Oak and consistent with the goals and policies of this agency.

The position hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm. This is a full-time salaried position which includes paid vacation and sick time along with optional medical and dental benefits. Salary range is $36,000 to $45,000 dependent on education and previous experience.

  • Assist the Program Director in assuring safety and well-being of all clients.
  • Work as a team member with Program Director and Program Specialists in basic program delivery, including daily tasks and personal care of clients.
  • Document any changes observed in clients, including physical, behavioral or psychological condition.
  • Assist Program Director with planning, recruiting, and evaluating program activities, as well as developing monthly calendar and conduct program activities as needed.
  • In absence of Program Director, be able to assume leadership of the program staff and responsibility for the smooth delivery of care for the clients.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and self-initiative. Be able to motivate Program Specialists, volunteers, etc.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward clients, caregivers, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work well with frail elderly and their caregivers in a caring, professional manner.
  • Participate in daily wrap-ups and reviews scheduled by Program Director and annual appraisal of clients.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow proper safety and emergency procedures, including Fire Drills, Earthquake Drills (posted in each program room), sudden illness of a client, client falls, etc. in a calm manner.
  • Properly document and report any client incident.
  • Work well with community volunteers and visitors.
  • Assist with inventory of program supplies.
  • Participate in all in-service training and staff meetings.
  • Make every effort to keep program area clean and hazard free (e.g. water on floors, walkers out of traffic areas, etc.).
  • Adhere to the Agency Policies & Procedures, including providing updated documentation of insurance, CPR, First Aid, etc.

BA or BS degree in field related to agency program (i.e., Gerontology, Social Services, Psychology, Human Development, Health Sciences, Education, etc.)* Experience and knowledge that provide requisite skills to work with frail elderly persons in a professional capacity.

PROGRAM SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY
Live Oak Adult Day Services provides a quality day program to enhance the lives of frail, dependent seniors and provides respite for their caregivers. To this end, the Program Specialist works with Program Director and Assistant Director to plan and provide daily activities designed to meet the needs and interests of the clients.

 

The position hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm. This is a full-time salaried position which includes paid vacation and sick time, along with optional medical and dental benefits. Salary range is $15.00 to $18.00 per hour dependent on education level and previous experience.

  • Assist the Program Director in assuring the safety and well-being of all clients.
  • Work as a member of a staff team, lead client activities, and provide direct care assistance, as needed.
  • Be alert to and document any changes observed in clients, including physical, behavioral or psychological condition.
  • Manage facility for short periods in the absence of the Program Director and Assistant Director.
  • Assist with inventory of program supplies.
  • Participate in all in-service training and staff.
  • Contribute ideas toward program development and enrichment of clients’ experience in the day care program.

The qualified candidate must have any combination of education and/or experience that give requisite skills and knowledge to work with frail elderly persons in a professional setting.
